How Hazard can become best in the world - Dixon

Kerry Dixon has called upon Chelsea star Eden Hazard to take his game to the next level by becoming more consistent as he recovers from an underwhelming last season.

Hazard is currently on duty with the Belgian national team, but his club form has dipped slightly in recent weeks after Chelsea went three consecutive league games without a win.

He remains an integral part of Antonio Conte's side after starting the season brilliantly, and was part of the team which got Chelsea back to winning ways against Hull City last weekend, but Dixon believes Hazard needs to be more consistent to be the world's best player.
"He’s got the talent, he’s got the ability," Dixon, who is Chelsea's third all-time top goalscorer, told Goal as he launched his new book, Up Front. "The desire has got to be there in every game for him to be a top player. You can’t turn on performances and turn them off. You need to do your best week in, week out.

"He is capable of being one of the best in the world, but it is up to him to be the best in the world. You can say you don’t like the manager, or the club or this or that.

"Sometimes people don’t fulfil their potential and get to where they should be for various reasons which can be the manager or the club, but the biggest reason is themselves."
Dixon scored 193 goals for Chelsea, which has earned him a place in Stamford Bridge folklore, but he trails Bobby Tambling and Frank Lampard, who scored 202 and 211 goals respectively, in the all-time list.
The Blues legend's new book details his playing career as well as his problems after gambling and drug addictions led him on the path to prison.
Top 10 disappointments of the season so far
He has since returned to watching his old club on a regular basis as he looks to rehabilitate his life and thinks that Chelsea are ready to achieve a top-four place this season, despite the competitive nature of the Premier League.
"It is a bit early to judge him, he started okay," added Dixon regarding manager Conte. "I think Chelsea will be in and around the top four. I hope they can win it. It is a season of optimism.
"If Diego Costa can score the goals and Eden Hazard gets back to what he was two years ago, they could have a cracking chance. It is a case of Chelsea having to dig in this year with United and City strengthening their squads so much this season. It has to be a case of Chelsea digging in this year with the majority of their squad playing to the top of their game.
"City or United are going to be up there with Arsenal, in the top four, as well. Tottenham and Liverpool will have a say along the line as well. I think they will be the top six. The four will sort themselves out as the season goes on and I do think that Chelsea will be in the four."
