Buhari Begs For Peace In Guinea Bissau - Politics

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday appealed to political leaders in Guinea Bissau to embrace unity and avoid any act that could plunge the nation into further crisis.
The president made the appeal when he received Mr Modibo Toure, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Guinea Bissau at the State House, Abuja. Buhari decried the lingering political crisis in the West African country.
“They must accept responsibility for leadership to stabilize their own country,’’ he said. He further maintained that only the country’s political leaders, not outsiders that could effectively resolve the political crisis in the country.
The president told the visiting envoy that Nigeria would welcome increased support from ECOWAS and the United Nations to stabilise the country and prevent breakdown of law and order.
According to him, Nigeria has a responsibility to the region and the rest of Africa, saying that “we will not shirk on our responsibility, in spite of the hardship confronting us’’.
Toure had requested Nigeria to use its clout in the regional bloc, ECOWAS, to break the deadlock in the country. The UN representative warned that Guinea Bissau faced “a very grim future if the country continues without a functioning government’’.

Benue Water Project: World Bank And FG Begin Project - Politics

The Federal Government has begun implementation of the 2.5 million Dollars World Bank, assisted 3rd National Urban Water Sector Reform Project in Makurdi, Benue State.

The acting National Coordinator, Mr Fasoye Adewale, disclosed this at a meeting with Governor Samuel Ortom when he visited him at the Government House to extract political commitment from the state government for the project.

Governor Ortom and the General Manager of the Benue State Water Board, Mr Mike Zdungu, pledge their political and administrative support to see the project through, after 5.2 billion Naira was committed to the water project, by previous administrations, without adequate supply to the metropolis.

At the end of the meeting, officials spoke on evolving a sustainable water policy that will guarantee success, as the Federal Government seeks improvement of water sanitation in the state.

Apart from the seasonal flooding caused by heavy down pour and the rising water level, the River Benue serves a very useful purpose like marine training for the Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering, local mining of building sand and fishing by the local Jukun tribes.

Other useful purpose of the massive River Benue, is the purification and treatment of the unclean water for domestic use for residents of the state.

Over the years, the challenges of water to the metropolis has been a daunting task. This is why the team from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources have stepped in.

The acting National Coordinator, Mr Fasoye Adewale also present the governor with keys to a Toyota Hilux van donated by the Federal Government to drive the project in Benue state.

Manager Conte defends Chelsea match-winner Costa

London (AFP) - Chelsea manager Antonio Conte defended Diego Costa after the snarling striker found himself at the centre of controversy once again in his side's 2-1 victory over West Ham United.
Costa struck an 89th-minute winner in Monday's game at Stamford Bridge to give Conte victory in his first Premier League match at the Chelsea helm.
But the Brazil-born Spain international was fortunate to be on the pitch, having earlier caught West Ham goalkeeper Adrian with a late challenge after he had already received a yellow card.
"Diego tried to put pressure on Adrian and before the contact, he stopped," Conte said, in comments that seemed to be contradicted by the evidence of television replays.
"For this reason I think the referee took the right decision. You know Diego is a passionate man and he puts passion in everything he does. In this situation, I think the referee took the right decision."
Chelsea were leading 1-0, courtesy of Eden Hazard's 47th-minute penalty, when Costa launched into a challenge on the dawdling Adrian, appearing to catch him high on the right calf.
Referee Anthony Taylor had booked Costa for dissent in the first half, but on this occasion he kept his cards in his pocket.
West Ham centre-back James Collins equalised with a neat finish 13 minutes from time, but Costa had the final say when he gathered a flick-on from debutant Michy Batshuayi and rifled home a low shot.
"From our point of view, we are not happy with that," West Ham manager Slaven Bilic said when asked about Costa's challenge.
"I don't think it was reckless, definitely not. It was not deliberate. But it was late, very late.
"Nine times out of 10, when you see that challenge on a goalkeeper, it ends up with a booking. Unfortunately this was the 10th time."
The Croatian was magnanimous enough to concede that Chelsea's victory was "deserved".
As well as a decisive late cameo by former Marseille striker Batshuayi, Conte also saw his summer signing from champions Leicester City, midfielder N'Golo Kante, turn in a typically industrious display on his competitive debut for the club.
- Ayew blow -
The France international was booked in the third minute for an untidy foul on Andy Carroll, but he grew into the game and Conte hailed his "fantastic stamina".
Kante's inclusion meant that there was no place in the starting eleven for Cesc Fabregas, but Conte insisted that he was "happy" with the former Arsenal midfielder.
Another positive for Conte was the performance of Hazard, whose form nosedived dramatically last season after he had been voted England's Player of the Year in Chelsea's 2014-15 title-winning campaign.
The Belgian winger looked alert and dangerous throughout, going close to breaking the deadlock with a curling effort and then putting Chelsea ahead with an emphatic penalty.
"Eden played a good game today with a great ability," Conte said.
"Hazard, Willian are players with great attitude with the other players. I am very pleased with Hazard's performance, but he knows he can improve a lot."
Conte also said he had been touched by the reception afforded him by the fans of his new club.
"I have to say thanks to the Chelsea fans because the welcome was fantastic," said the former Juventus and Italy coach.
"And to see the Italian flag in the stand, I had a bit of emotion. And with me (were) my wife and my daughter.
"I hope with work, with my players, we will pay (back) this welcome."
Compounding Bilic's disappointment was a thigh injury sustained by new recruit Andre Ayew that forced him off in the 34th minute.
The Ghana attacking midfielder, a club-record signing from Swansea City, will undergo a scan on Tuesday, but already looks a doubt for Thursday's Europa League play-off round first leg at Romanian side Astra Giurgiu.
"It's a thigh injury," Bilic said. "He told me that it's not a big one. But you never know. We have to wait for the scan tomorrow."

Match report: Chelsea edge West Ham 2-1 in opener

Change has come to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea spent last season bouncing from early meltdown over Jose Mourinho to Guus Hiddink’s stumbling hangover, and you might have been forgiven for thinking that the arrivals of Michy Batshuayi and N’Golo Kante weren’t going to be enough to turn things around. But skimming the Blues transfer dealings don’t give the full feeling of the change that’s hit the club this summer. Antonio Conte is here, and Antonio Conte isn’t going to take the sort of crap we’ve been accustomed to for an answer.
It would have been easy for the Blues, pegged back to 1-1 late after an impressive if slightly stolid performance, to throw in the towel and the two points to start the year. They’d have had every right to think a win deserved and a draw unjust, and it’s not difficult to imagine a press conference in which the team is praised and bad luck bemoaned. But the thing about excuses is that winners never have to make them. Rather than indulge in self-pity after a setback, Chelsea struck late to claim the spoils.
The first change was on the teamsheet. Cesc Fabregas, hero of the 2014/15 title charge, was benched in favour of a more recent vintage. Kante’s part in leading Leicester City to the least probable Premier League title ever cannot be overstated, but he fulfills a very different role to the man he replaced in the lineup. This year’s Chelsea will value defensive stability over flamboyance, and they’ll probably be better off for it.
Kante endured a slightly nervy start, taking a soft yellow card for a foul on Andy Carroll in the third minute. Pointing out that James Collins got away with a warning for a slightly meatier tackle on Diego Costa is probably necessary to foreshadow the spectre of an inconsistent refereeing performance, but upon reflection pointing out that the man in question is the professionally ambivalent Anthony Taylor does that job just as well.
Much like Kante, the Blues got off to a slowish start, but everyone managed to gel before too long. It was particularly important for Chelsea to establish a presence in midfield, where Kante was flanked by Nemanja Matic and Oscar in a 4-3-3. Both are players with something to prove this year — Matic’s revival will be particularly important if a real top-four challenge is to materialise — and they can be very pleased with their performances on the night. The Dmitri Payet-less Hammers could barely get a touch in central areas without being run off the ball by a blue shirt, and unlike previous incarnations of this Chelsea squad it felt as though someone was always going to be at the end of a loose ball.
But although the visitors were being shut out of dangerous areas entirely, Chelsea had to pay a price for dropping Fabregas. Shorn of the most creative passer in the squad, the Blues were stodgy going forward, with only Eden Hazard causing any real problems for West Ham’s back line. One particularly intrepid run from the Belgian —which ended with a shot bent just wide of Adrian’s far post — actually left Andre Ayew injured trying in vain to chase him down, and Hazard’s willingness to take players on recalled the glories of the 2014/15 campaign. If he’s returning to top form, Chelsea fans can take real heart.
We would have had more to celebrate in the first half had Taylor given us what seemed in real time to be a straightforward spot kick. Oscar, struggling to open up the Hammers while in possession, decided to create via his defending instead. Poaching the ball off a criminally sloppy Mark Noble 25 yards out, the Brazilian charged into the box before going down under contact from the wrong-footed Winston Reid. It would have been a slightly soft call and Oscar went down theatrically, but even on replay it looked as though he’d been impeded. But no penalty was given, and the only consequence of the whole affair was Diego Costa taking a yellow card for complaining about it.
Complaints about the penalty decision were, however, banished early after the interval. Some bizarre defending from the Hammers let Costa behind the line, and although his tight angle shot was blocked by Adrian the visitors failed to get the ball to safety, eventually halting play via the not-particularly-expedient method of barging Cesar Azpilicueta over in the box. Right back Michail Antonio was the culprit, and he didn’t last long following the foul — a rightly furious Slaven Bilic hauled him off as punishment, putting on 22-year-old Sam Byram in his place.
By the time that substitution was made Chelsea were of course a goal to the good thanks to the penalty. Last year was an embarrassing one for spot kicks (and almost everything else), so you might not have been blamed for worrying slightly more than usual as Hazard stood over the ball. He ignored the tension, however, and blasted into the roof of the net to make it 1- 0
West Ham were reeling and now the chances began to arrive in earnest. Hazard should have made it 2-0 from Willian’s cutback, but the pass was to his lead foot and the opening was gone before he could adjust. John Terry had a free header from a corner go wide. Oscar and Willian had shots go behind for corners. The Hammers were offering nothing, but for as long as we were looking at a one-goal game there was danger.
And with Payet warming on the touchline that danger felt more and more real with every wasted chance. Bilic made his changes, finally committing his star 67 minutes in. Set pieces began to feel rather more threatening as soon as Payet arrived, and before long one had turned the game smartly on its head.
There was an element of suspicious refereeing in the ten minutes that elapsed between Payet’s introduction and the West Ham equaliser. Costa was inexplicably allowed to remain on the pitch after taking out both of Adrian’s ankles with a wild and hilarious challenge — we’ll have to add that one to Costa’s long criminal record -- but the decisions weren’t all going Chelsea’s way.
Azpilicueta deciding to thump the ball clear from the vicinity of Andy Carroll’s skull was probably ill-advised, but contact, if any, was minimal. Carroll’s dive, on the other hand, was exquisite, and Taylor wasted no time in booking the right back and awarding a close-range free kick. The wall did its job that time, turning Payet’s shot behind for a corner, but that merely postponed the inevitable.

Rapper The Game Claims He's Slept With 3 Kardashians in New Song

Kanye West isn't the only rapper referencing the Kardashians in his lyrics.
The Game released his song "Sauce" this weekend and claims to have been more than just friends with the famous family. "I used to f**k b**ches that Usher Raymond passed on," he raps. "Then I f**ked three Kardashians / Hold that thought.
On Sunday night, The Game performed his new song at Drai's Nightclub at The Cromwell in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 36-year-old rapper has known the Kardashian clan for quite a while. In June, Khloe Kardashian revealed on her website that she moved out of her mom's house at 16 and by 17, she was had "four guys as roommates" in an apartment in Van Nuys, California, one of which was The Game. "I've known him since I was 14 and we're friends," she said.

While on The Wendy Williams show last November, The Game denied being anything more than friends with Khloe and recalled that she was a bit of a tomboy and "chill" before fame. "Khloe is just a good friend," he said when asked if he was "hooking up" with the 32-year-old reality star.
When asked if he ever had a thing with Kim Kardashian West, The Game stumbled over his words. "Um, you know, uh....you know so uh, you know what," he hesitated. "Kanye is great, Kim is great, they're great for each other, you know."

He added, "Kanye is a really good friend of mine and he's got a really good family structure. That baby (North West) is just to die for and I don't want to disrespect their family infrastructure."
Over the weekend, The Game attended the wedding of Kim's ex, Ray J, and Princess Love. "Love is LOVE. #rayjandprincesswedding," he captioned a photo of the newlyweds. "@RayJ and @PrincessLove said I'm next to be married."

Kanye has never shied away from singing about his wife and her former exes, though he's never mentioned The Game. In June, Yeezy made headlines when he dropped the NSFW music video for "Famous" that features himself in bed naked with several celebrities, including Ray J, who famously co-starred in a 2006 sex tape with her. "Don't put me part of nothing that's weird, that don't make no sense," Ray J told ET when asked about the music video. "Can I grow up?"
The Kardashians have yet to respond to The Game's recent rap.

Premier League: We gifted United victory, says Bournemouth boss Howe

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe was left to rue a "gift" of an opening goal as his side suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.
A promising first 40 minutes at the Vitality Stadium was undone when Simon Francis' poor backpass allowed Juan Mata to ghost in and give United the lead, despite a good save from Artur Boruc.
Wayne Rooney headed in Anthony Martial's mishit volley early in the second half before Zlatan Ibrahimovic struck a fine third to seal United's win, despite a consolation for Bournemouth through Adam Smith.
Howe was encouraged by some of his side's display, but conceded that the mistake for the opening goal proved to be a turning point.
"Lots of elements were pretty good, we started quite brightly and the first goal was a hammer blow," he told Sky Sports. "You can't gift goals away in the Premier League and we've done that to the very best.
"Simon's been outstanding over a long period of time and it's just a little blip for him. It was a turning point but credit to the players for not giving in.
"We kept possession really well but failed to build sustained pressure and pepper their goal until the final few minutes. That's something we need to work on.
"We didn't have the cutting edge but that will hopefully come in the coming weeks."
Howe, who gave debuts to record signing Jordon Ibe and Lewis Cook, also confirmed that a fee has been agreed with Stoke City for defender Marc Wilson.
"We've agreed a fee, we're waiting for the formalities to be completed," he added.

Jose Mourinho gives an update on this star player’s future

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Juan Mata does have a future at Old Trafford, following consistent speculation about the midfielder’s prospects. Mourinho sold Mata when he was Chelsea manager, and substituted him in the FA Community Shield when the Spaniard had only come on minutes previously as a substitute himself. The Portuguese is understood to harbor concerns about Mata’s pace and ability to track back to help out at defense. But Mata started in United’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, and now it appears Mourinho has had a change of heart and wants to keep him. “One thing is the stories people write. The other thing is the reality,” Mourinho said to ESPN.
